Approaching festivities

To receive a book before December 25th, it is necessary to formalize the order at least 2 weeks in advance and notify the bookshop that delivery must take place before Christmas. The bookshop usually closes in August: orders placed during this period are processed as quickly as possible upon return.

Notes Il più celebre tra gli ultimi libri di Calvino. «“Le città invisibili” uscirono nel novembre 1972, dopo un iter di scrittura durato circa sei anni: diciotto brevi dialoghi ironico-sapienziali tra un Marco Polo di multiforme ingegno e un Kublai Kan di sfaccettate malinconie incorniciavano cinquantacinque descrizioni, brevi anch’esse, di città immaginarie che portavano esotici nomi di donna, e che dagli effluvi di un lontano Oriente si corrompevano di odori e miasmi sempre più moderni, sempre e comunque però con effetti di deriva visionaria; “poemetto in prosa o apologo o onirigramma” erano i generi letterari evocati nel risvolto di copertina, ma si può parlare più semplicemente di un diario di viaggio alla ricerca di più identità — reali oppure virtuali, desiderate oppure temute — coese in una struttura di nitida complessità combinatoria; non per nulla Calvino fu nominato nel febbraio 1973 “membre étranger” dell’Ou-li-po. Per molti anni, avrebbe continuato a definire le “Città” come il suo ultimo libro» (Domenico Scarpa, voce DBI, 2013).

Condition Ottimo esemplare. Conserva la fascetta editoriale «Il Marcopolo di Calvino».
